In one paragraph
What Tranche 2 asks of a small firm
A reporting entity has to do six things: write an AML/CTF program based on a risk assessment of its own firm; check who its clients are and rate their risk; keep an eye on them over time; report suspicious matters to AUSTRAC; train its staff; and keep records of all of it. None of that is hard for a small firm, but it is easy to leave half-done. The software turns the six obligations into a checklist with reminders, and keeps the paperwork in one place.
For: accountants, bookkeepers and BAS agents; real estate agents and buyers agents; lawyers and conveyancers. Not sure you are covered? Start with the free AML/CTF guide.

Straight answers
Who is covered by Tranche 2?
Since 1 July 2026, many small Australian firms that provide certain services are reporting entities under the AML/CTF Act: accountants and bookkeepers, real estate agents and buyers agents, lawyers and conveyancers, among others. Whether your firm is covered depends on the services you provide. The free guide at amlctfguide.com.au walks through it in plain English.
What does a reporting entity have to do?
In short: have a written AML/CTF program based on a risk assessment of your firm, check the identity of clients and assess their risk, keep monitoring them, report suspicious matters to AUSTRAC, train staff, and keep records. The software is built around exactly those obligations.
Do I need a consultant?
Most small firms don’t. The software asks the questions a consultant would ask, writes the program from your answers, and keeps the ongoing records. For unusual situations, complex structures or a formal legal opinion, you should still get advice: the software organises your obligations, it does not replace legal advice.
Which version should I choose?
The one for your profession. LedgerAML, RealtyAML and PracticeAML are the same software, with the wording, examples and risk questions of each profession. If your firm does more than one (for example a law firm that also does conveyancing), pick the main one and tell us; we will set it up.
How much does it cost?
AU$99.90 per month per firm. One plan, all features included, with help inside the app. There is a 14-day free trial and you can cancel at any time from the subscription page.
How long does it take to get set up?
Most firms have a written program and their first clients recorded within an afternoon. The questionnaire takes around an hour; adding clients takes a few minutes each.
Is this legal advice?
No. The software helps you organise and document your AML/CTF obligations. It is not legal advice and does not replace it for unusual situations or where you are unsure whether you are covered.
Can I export my records?
Yes. Your client records can be exported from the app at any time, so they are available if AUSTRAC asks or if you ever move to another system.
Not sure where to start?
Read the free guide, start a trial, or just ask.
