Websites built to rank, load fast and ring your phone.
A website for a local business has one job: turn a search into a call or a booking. We build sites that do that on a phone, at 11 pm, in under two seconds, with a page for every service and every suburb you work in.
Domain, hosting and code in your name. No lock-in, no hostage sites.
- Phone number in the header, tappable — most trade enquiries are calls.
- One page, one job, one suburb — the heading matches the exact search.
- The answer to “why you” in the first two lines, not an “about us” essay.
- Real reviews and real service areas — trust and relevance, side by side.
- One clear action — quote, booking or call. Not five buttons.
- Fast and stable — Core Web Vitals in the green on a real phone.
In one paragraph
What makes a local website work
A local business website ranks and converts when three things are true: it has a separate, useful page for each service and each area it serves; it loads fast and reads clearly on a phone; and it makes the next step obvious, usually a call. Design matters because trust matters, but a beautiful site that loads in six seconds and buries the phone number loses to a plain one that doesn’t. We build for the search and the thumb first, then make it look like your business.
Good for: tradies and home services, clinics and allied health, professional practices, cafés and venues, multi-location businesses, and anyone whose current site is a slow template with one “Services” page.
What you get
A complete site, not a template with your logo on it
Every project includes the thinking, the words and the technical work. Nothing is an add-on you discover later.
Keyword map and structure
We find what people in your area actually search for, then plan a page for each service and each suburb worth ranking in. The sitemap is agreed before any design.
Copywriting
Plain Australian English, written from a short interview with you. Headlines that match searches, answers to the questions customers ask, and buttons that say what happens next.
Design that fits your trade
Your colours, your real photos, a clear hierarchy. Readable at arm’s length on a phone in sunlight. No stock-photo handshakes, no sliders.
Service and area pages
One page per service and real pages for the suburbs you serve, each with specific content. Built to grow as you add services or areas.
Fast, static build
Hand-built pages served as static HTML: no heavy page builders, no plugins to update, nothing to hack. Under 500 KB per page is our normal, not our best.
Core Web Vitals in the green
Tested on a real mid-range phone over 4G before launch: LCP under 2.5 s, INP under 200 ms, CLS under 0.1. Google uses these in ranking; customers feel them.
Local SEO foundations
Titles, headings, internal links, LocalBusiness and Service schema, Google Business Profile linked, Search Console and sitemap set up on day one.
Tracking and handover
Call tracking, form tracking and analytics installed. Domain, hosting and code in your name, with a short video on how to edit the everyday things yourself.
Our build standard
Numbers we commit to on every site, in writing
Google measures real users’ experience with Core Web Vitals and uses it in ranking. These are the limits every site we ship meets on a mid-range Android phone over 4G, not on a fast laptop in the office.
Main content visible fast. Self-hosted fonts, images sized and compressed (WebP or AVIF), no render-blocking scripts.
Taps respond instantly. Minimal JavaScript; no chat widgets or pop-ups fighting for the thread.
Nothing jumps while loading: every image has its space reserved, so the call button stays under the thumb.
Interactive
Plan your pages in thirty seconds
Tell us what you do and where. You get the page structure a site like yours needs to rank, and a realistic build time.
Your business
A starting structure, refined in the free audit with real search data for your area. The written quote lists every page.
How a project runs
Three to five weeks, with you in the loop every week
Brief and keyword map
A 30-minute call, your photos and any existing copy. We research what your customers search for and agree the sitemap and the quote.
Week 1Words and design
Copy for every page, then the design of the home and a service page for your approval. Changes happen here, where they are cheap.
Week 2Build and review
All pages built, tested on real phones, speed verified. You click through a private link and we fix anything you spot.
Weeks 3–4Launch and handover
Domain pointed, redirects from old URLs, tracking live, Search Console and Business Profile linked, editing walkthrough recorded.
Week 4–5Your options
Do it yourself, hire us, or hire a big agency
| SEO Mates | DIY builder (Wix, Squarespace) | Large agency | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Built for | Local search and phone calls, from the sitemap up | Looking finished fast; SEO is an afterthought | Brand and campaigns; local often a line item |
| Speed on a phone | Static pages, tested on a real phone before launch | Heavy templates, usually 3–6 MB, slow on 4G | Varies; often a CMS with many plugins |
| Who writes the words | We do, from an interview with you | You do, at 10 pm | A copywriter, from a brand brief |
| Ownership | Domain, hosting and code in your name | Locked to the platform; you rent it | Usually yours, check the contract |
| After launch | Edit the everyday things yourself; SEO plan fits on top | You maintain it | Retainer |
If you already have a site that is well structured and just slow, ask about a rebuild on the same URLs. It is often the cheapest path.
What we won’t build
Six things you will never find on a site we make
- Suburb pages that are copies with the name changed. Google treats them as doorway pages. Each area page has real detail or it isn’t built.
- Stock photos of models in hard hats. Customers can tell, and so can Google’s image understanding. Your real van beats their fake smile.
- Fake reviews or made-up “years of experience”. It breaches Australian Consumer Law and it reads as fake. We show what is true.
- Pop-ups, chat bubbles and cookie walls on load. They hurt Core Web Vitals and drive people away before they see your number.
- Hosting you can’t leave. Everything is in your name from day one. Leaving us takes an afternoon, not a lawyer.
- A “Services” page that lists everything in one paragraph. Google can’t rank it for anything, so neither can you.
Questions about websites
Straight answers
How much does a website cost?
It depends on how many services and areas you need pages for, and whether you have photos and copy or need us to produce them. A small local site (five to ten pages) is a fixed-price project; a multi-location site is quoted by scope. Every quote is written, itemised, and comes after a free audit of what you have now.
How long does it take?
Most local business sites launch in three to five weeks: one week for the brief and keyword map, one for copy and design, one to two for the build and your review, and launch with tracking in the final week. The main variable is how fast you can review and send photos.
Do I own the website?
Yes, completely. The domain is registered in your name, the hosting account is yours, and you get the code. If you ever leave, you take everything with you. We never hold a site hostage.
Can you redesign my existing website instead of starting over?
Often, yes. If the content and structure are sound, we rebuild it on a fast foundation and keep the URLs that already rank, with redirects for anything that changes. If the site is a slow page-builder template, starting fresh is usually cheaper than fixing it.
Can I edit the site myself?
Yes. Day-to-day changes (hours, prices, a new photo, a new service) are done through a simple editor, and we include a short video walkthrough. Anything structural, we do for you as part of the SEO plan or at an hourly rate.
Do you write the words?
Yes. Copywriting is part of every project: service pages, area pages, FAQs, and the words on the buttons. We interview you for twenty minutes, then write in plain Australian English, for customers first and search engines second.
What about photos?
Real photos of you, your team, your van and your work outperform stock photography every time, and Google can tell the difference. We give you a short shot list to send from your phone; if you want a photographer, we can arrange one at cost.
Will the website rank on its own?
A well-built site with a page per service and real area content gives you the foundation, and it will rank for easier searches by itself. Competitive terms need ongoing work: suburb pages, links and new content. That is our Local SEO service, and the two are built to fit together.
