Websites for tradies · Australia
Websites for tradies: built to rank, load on site and get the job booked.
A tradie website has one job: turn a search on a phone into a call, a text or a quote request. Ours do that with a page for every job you want, a real page for every suburb you drive to, prices on the page, your Google reviews shown live, and a build that loads in under two seconds on 4G. Domain, hosting and code in your name. We run our own tradie sites in Australian cities; we build yours the same way.
Fixed price after the audit. No monthly fee for the site, no hostage hosting.
- Call and text in the header, tappable — on every page, under the thumb.
- Trade + area + jobs in the heading — the search, word for word.
- Prices and the answer to “why you” in the first lines, not an essay.
- Real reviews, real suburbs — pulled from Google, never typed in.
- One clear next step — text, call or quote form. Not five buttons.
- Fast and structured — Core Web Vitals green, schema Google can read.
In one paragraph
What a tradie website has to do
A website for a tradie is read on a phone, often in a hurry, by someone with a problem: a burst pipe, no power, a roof leaking. It works when it answers that person in the first screen (what you do, where, what it costs, how to reach you now) and when Google can find a specific page for each job and each suburb you serve. That means one page per job with the price, one real page per suburb, your Google reviews shown live, a tappable number and a quote form that reaches you by SMS, and a build light enough to load on 4G in under two seconds. Design matters because trust matters; a beautiful site that loads in six seconds and buries the number loses to a plain one that doesn't.
Tradie website design, in eight parts
What a tradie website includes
The same eight parts in every tradie site we build. What changes is which jobs get a page first and what your suburbs need to say.
A page for every job, not a “Services” list
“Blocked drains”, “hot water repairs”, “switchboard upgrades”: one page each, with the price, how the job goes and what to do first. It is what Google ranks and what a customer reads at 11 pm.
A real page for every suburb you drive to
Written so a local recognises their own street: the housing, what fails there, the price in that area. Not eighty suburb names on one page.
Prices on the page
A set price or a from-price per job, and what changes it. Tradies who show prices get the enquiry; “call for a quote” loses to the one who did.
Your work, photographed on your phone
A short shot list: the van, the job before and after, you on site. Real photos beat stock hard hats with customers and with Google.
Your Google reviews, pulled in live
The rating and the latest reviews from your Google profile, shown on the site. Never typed in by hand, never invented.
Tap to call, tap to text, a form that reaches you
The number in the header on every page. A quote form that sends you an SMS and an email the moment it is filled in, including at 2 am.
Fast on site, on 4G, one-handed
Hand-built static pages under 500 KB. Loads in under two seconds on a mid-range phone with two bars of signal, which is where your customers are.
Licence, ABN and service area shown honestly
Your licence number, your ABN and the suburbs you cover, in the footer and in the LocalBusiness schema. No fake address to look closer.

What goes on the home page, trade by trade
Same structure, different first screen. These are the patterns from the tradie sites we run ourselves and the ones we audit.
| Trade | What the site has to lead with |
|---|---|
| Plumbers | Emergency page first, then blocked drains, hot water, leaks, gas. Prices for the common call-outs on the page. |
| Electricians | Switchboards, safety switches, rewiring, EV chargers, fans and lights. Emergency page for “power out”. Licence number visible. |
| Roofers | Leak repairs, restoration, gutters, storm damage. Before-and-after photos do the selling; a page ready before storm season. |
| Painters | Interior, exterior, roof painting, strata. Photo galleries by job type and a cost-per-room or per-house guide. |
| Builders and renovators | Bathrooms, kitchens, decks, extensions. One page per room with real photos and a cost range, plus the licence and insurance details. |
| Landscapers and concreters | Driveways, retaining walls, turf, paving. One page per product with the per-square-metre price and photos. |
| Removalists | Local, interstate, office. Hourly rate on the page, a quote form that asks the right questions, pages per area. |
| Cleaners and handymen | End of lease, bond cleans, regular cleans, small repairs. The hourly rate, what is included, and a booking form. |
Your options
Website builder, cheap tradie package, or a site built for your trade
Three ways tradies get a website. The cheap ones are not wrong; they are for a different moment. The mistake is paying monthly for years for a site that was never going to rank.
| SEO Mates | DIY builder (Wix, Squarespace) | Cheap tradie package | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pages | One page per job and per suburb, each written for that search | Whatever you have time to build, usually a “Services” page | A fixed template: home, services, about, contact |
| Who writes the words | We do, from a 20-minute interview with you | You do, at 10 pm | Placeholder text you are asked to replace |
| Speed on a phone | Static pages, tested on a real phone over 4G before launch | Heavy templates, usually 3–6 MB | Same template as every other tradie on it, with plugins |
| Reviews and prices | Google reviews pulled live; prices on the job pages | Typed in by you, if at all | Usually a reviews widget; prices rarely |
| What you pay | A fixed price once, in writing; hosting and domain in your name | A monthly plan for as long as the site exists | A monthly fee for as long as you keep it; leave and lose it |
| Ownership | Domain, hosting and code are yours | Locked to the platform; you rent it | Usually theirs; check the contract |
| Best for | A tradie who wants the site to bring work for years | A side business, a first year, a tight budget | Being online by Friday |
Already have a site that is well structured and just slow? Ask about a rebuild on the same URLs; it is often the cheapest path. Want the site to keep climbing after launch? That is SEO for tradies, built to fit on top.
How a project runs
Three to five weeks, everything in writing
Brief, photos and keyword map
A short written brief and a 20-minute interview. You send photos from your phone using our shot list. We research what your customers search for and agree the pages and the quote.
Week 1Words and design
Copy for every page, then the design of the home page and one job page for your approval. Changes happen here, where they are cheap.
Week 2Build and review
All pages built, Google reviews connected, forms sending to your phone, speed verified on a real phone. You click through a private link and we fix anything you spot.
Weeks 3–4Launch and handover
Domain pointed, redirects from old URLs, tracking live, Search Console and Google Business Profile linked, editing walkthrough recorded.
Week 4–5What we won't build
Six things you will never find on a tradie site we make
- A “Services” page with everything in one paragraph. Google can't rank it for anything, so neither can you.
- Suburb pages that are copies with the name changed. Google treats them as doorway pages. Each area page has real detail or it isn't built.
- Stock photos of models in hard hats. Customers can tell, and so can Google. Your real van beats their fake smile.
- Reviews typed in by hand, or “20 years' experience” that isn't true. It breaches Australian Consumer Law and it reads as fake. Your real Google reviews, live.
- A quote form that emails an inbox nobody checks at night. Every form sends you an SMS and an email the moment it is filled in.
- Hosting you can't leave. Everything is in your name from day one. Leaving us takes an afternoon, not a lawyer.
Questions tradies ask about websites
Straight answers
How much does a tradie website cost?
A fixed price, quoted in writing after a free audit, with every page listed. What moves the price is the number of job pages and suburb pages, and whether you have photos and copy or need us to produce them. There is no monthly fee for the site itself: hosting and the domain are in your name and cost a small amount a year, paid by you directly. If you want ongoing suburb pages, links and content, that is the Local SEO plan, priced by city, and it is separate.
Are cheap tradie websites or website packages worth it?
A cheap package is usually a template with your logo and a monthly fee for as long as you keep it; the pages are the same as the other tradies on the same template, the “Services” page lists everything in one block, and you cannot leave without losing the site. It gets you online, which beats nothing. It does not get you ranked, because Google has nothing specific to rank. If budget is the issue, start with fewer pages done properly and add suburbs later.
Can I use a website builder like Wix or Squarespace for a tradie website?
You can, and for a side business it may be enough. The problems show up when you want to rank: builder templates weigh three to six megabytes and are slow on 4G, the page structure is hard to control, and the site is rented, not owned. If you already have one that is working, we can audit it and tell you honestly whether to keep it.
Do I need a website if I use hipages or Airtasker?
Marketplaces sell the same request to several tradies and you compete on price and speed of reply. A website is the opposite: the customer found you, only you. Most tradies use a marketplace while the website and its rankings build, then drop it when the diary fills. The site is also where the marketplace customer goes to check you out before replying.
Do I own the website?
Yes, completely. The domain is registered in your name, the hosting account is yours, and you get the code. If you ever leave, you take everything with you. We never hold a site hostage.
How long does a tradie website take?
Three to five weeks: one week for the brief and the keyword map, one for the words and the design of the home page and a job page, one to two for the build and your review, then launch with tracking. The main variable is how fast you send photos and check the pages.
Will the website rank on its own?
A site with a page per job and real suburb pages ranks for the easier searches by itself, especially in regional cities. Competitive metro trades need ongoing work: more suburb pages, links, new content. That is SEO for tradies, and the site is built so the plan fits on top without rebuilding anything.
What photos do I need?
Your van, your work before and after, you and your team on site, your tools. Taken on your phone, in daylight. We send a short shot list of about twenty photos and we do the editing. If you want a photographer, we can arrange one at cost.
Can you rebuild my existing tradie website?
Often, yes. If the structure is sound, we rebuild it on a fast foundation and keep the URLs that already rank, with redirects for anything that changes. If it is a slow template with one “Services” page, starting fresh is usually cheaper than fixing it. The free audit tells you which.
Does it work on a phone with a weak signal?
That is the test every page passes before launch: a mid-range Android phone over 4G, main content visible in under 2.5 seconds, taps responding in under 200 milliseconds, nothing jumping while it loads. Your customers are standing in a wet laundry, not sitting at a desk.
Can I edit prices and hours myself?
Yes. Prices, hours, a new photo, a new service: a simple editor and a short video walkthrough. Anything structural, we do for you.
Do you build tradie websites in my city?
The whole of Australia; the site is built remotely and everything is in writing. Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane tradies are the most common, followed by Perth, Adelaide, the Gold Coast and regional cities. Your suburbs are what change, not the way it is built.
